CINCINNATI–The Cincinnati Reds are suspicious that Gary Majewski, a reliever whom they received from the Washington Nationals last season in a trade for Austin Kearns and Felipe Lopez, was injured when he was sent to the Reds. In response, the Reds plan to file a grievance with Major League Baseball about the trade.
Jim Hendry, having caught wind of the Reds’ proposed grievance, plans to file grievances regarding the last sixty-three free agent signings which the Cubs have made, with the exception of Andre Dawson.
“We’ve had a lot of bad players come through this organization, and I think we’re entitled to some compensation for that,” Hendry said. “Neifi Perez, Glendon Rusch, and Jose Macias were all signed as free agents in recent memory,” Hendry continued. “And the list can just go on and on.”
After fielding a few questions from other reporters, Hendry continued, “Todd Hundley, Delino DeShields.” Hendry rolled his eyes, “These are just a couple of the players whose signings we plan on protesting.”
“Two-thirds of Moises Alou, Shawn Boskie, Willie Greene, Shane Andrews. We could be here all day,” Hendry said.
“I mean, honestly, Chico Walker? We paid that guy to play for us?” Hendry added, getting visibly more agitated. “Terry Shumpert! F@#$ing Terry f@#$ing Shumpert!” Hendry said, concluding the interview.
Major League Baseball is not expected to investigate Hendry’s grievances.
